About QualIntel OS

The product, the company, and why it was built.

What QualIntel OS is

QualIntel OS is an AI-assisted qualitative research platform for PhD candidates, postgraduate researchers, research consultants, and programme evaluators. It supports researcher-led qualitative analysis: AI surfaces candidate evidence and organises the codebook, while the researcher confirms every coding decision. The system produces a defensible audit trail and an examiner-ready submission package — including an auto-generated AI Disclosure Statement — at every stage of the workflow.

The platform supports seven qualitative methodologies: Reflexive Thematic Analysis, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, Grounded Theory, Codebook Thematic Analysis, Content Analysis, Template Analysis, and the Gioia methodology.

Why it was built

The volume of qualitative data in academic research — especially in PhD and postgraduate work — has grown significantly, while the methodological rigour expected by examiners has not decreased. Existing AI tools either have no qualitative methodology awareness, produce no audit trail, or require researchers to make AI disclosure decisions without a clear record of what the AI actually did.

QualIntel OS was built to close that gap: give researchers the efficiency of AI-assisted evidence retrieval while preserving full methodological transparency and researcher ownership of interpretation. The positioning is deliberate — "cognitive scaffolding for qualitative rigour." The system organises, surfaces, and audits. The researcher interprets.

Founder

QualIntel OS was founded by Stephen McCurdy, based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Stephen brings experience in organizational research, executive leadership, and AI-enabled systems design. QualIntel OS emerged from his work at the intersection of research practice, AI systems, and academic rigour — including his own postgraduate research experience.

Academic integrity commitment

QualIntel OS does not generate findings, auto-apply codes, or replace researcher interpretation. Every AI suggestion requires explicit researcher confirmation before it is logged. The platform is designed to withstand examiner, supervisor, funder, and ethics committee scrutiny. The AI Disclosure Statement and audit trail are the evidence of that commitment.
